The SEKOTS Foundation Honors Eva Manigault

Eva Manigault with a donation for the Aaron Manigault Scholarship Fund.
Eva Manigault was selected by the SEKOTS Foundation, to receive the Robert M. Dowling Foundation Leadership Award (The Founder’s Award).The award was presented on February 11, 2012 during the SEKOTS Foundation annual Valentine's Benefit. The Robert M. Dowling Foundation Leadership Award is named after the foundation’s largest benefactor, and established to recognize an individual who has been an inspiration to Bamberg County; as well as shown outstanding leadership in the community. This award also recognizes an individual who exemplifies the values of the SEKOTS Foundation: teaching, learning, empowerment, innovation, diversity, and community. The award was established in 2011 and Dr. Cleveland Sellers II was our inaugural recipient.
The SEKOTS Foundation's primary purpose is to assist local college students with college related financial needs. Keeping in line with the foundation's purpose, Manigault received a $200.00 donation to be used for the Aaron Manigault Memorial Scholarship Fund; a fund that was established by Manigault in memory of her late son, Aaron. This print was created in 2000 to reflect the voting process in African American families and households. Though the print was purchased in 2000, it was framed on October 27, 2011 for the first time. The print is 24 X 18 and would be great in an office setting or office of an HBCU. Take note of one of the sponsors, the Tom Joyner Morning Show. The co sponsor is the NAACP. Proceeds to benefit the SEKOTS Foundation Scholarship Fund.

The SEKOTS (Se'kots or saykots) Foundation aspires to assist anyone who has a strong desire and commitment to realizing their academic potential. Additionally, our organization takes a special interest in supporting those who have overcome insurmountable hardships and obstacles to access their dreams of obtaining higher education.
One of our major goals is to increase the number of scholarships that we offer to the youth of Bamberg County, every year.
We also strive to assist adults who need a helping hand due to an unfortunate temporary circumstance that they may have developed in their lives. We are a 501 (c) (3) organization.
THE MISSION:
The SEKOTS Foundation rewards perseverance through adversity by awarding higher education scholarships to deserving youth in Bamberg County and work to assist residents who may qualify for temporary assistance for a variety of reasons.
